This one day accredited course is designed to equip you for
survival at sea in the case of a ditching. Based on helicopters and of interest to all
helicopter pilots and off -shore workers who venture over water areas (including lakes),
this course has the following key elements:
- Aviation safety and equipment
- Life rafts, stores and equipment
- Practical escape and survival exercises.
- Life raft escape and rescue
- Practical firefighting and escape
The course is accredited, and valid for 2 years. All airline aircrew undertake this
type of course as part of their basic survival training. Helicopter aircrew must also have
this validation credit when involved in overwater flights such as offshore oil platform
support.
The validation credit gained is valid for two years. A laminated photo
Accreditation/Certificate card is issued on successful course completion.
Note: This course involves underwater helicopter escape training in a pool.
Assistance for non-swimming trainees can be organised but must be arranged prior to the
course commencing.
Included in course: Morning/Afternoon tea and Lunch.
Student to bring: Swimming costume, plus evidence of medical clearance (form
sent to trainees upon registration).
